Who we are

Ian's Competition Dancing:


Ian started dancing as a medallist in 1984 and won the prestigious nationwide “Medallist of the Year” competition for both Ballroom and Latin at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in 1985. He continued his dancing career into the open competition circuit, eventually reaching a world ranking of 37.

Before leaving the UK to live in Mallorca, he was ranked at number 7 in the UK, winning numerous competitions including the City of Manchester and the Commonwealth Games Championship in 2002 with his former partners Anne Mawson and Julie Hembry.

Ian has also represented England in the well established Maltese Open Championships where he and his partner were runners up in 2002 and 2004.

Pickles Dance Studio Mallorca:

 

Ian started his Dance business working in local hotels and gyms in the winter of 2005 and was delighted at the response and enthusiasm from local residents. Taking the plunge, he opened his first studio in November 2006 followed by his northern Studio opening in the Golf Club Pollensa in the Summer of 2009. Owned and run by Ian Pickles and Rebecca Andrews,  Pickles Dance Studio caters for all types of dancing & performance including Ballroom, Latin American, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Ballet, Tap, Stage, Singing and Latin-in-Line Dancing.

Ian takes a committed but light-hearted and informal approach to teaching, his aim is to build confidence while helping people learn a new skill and to have as much fun as possible in the process. His classes appeal to a wide range of people of all ages, shapes and sizes and from all walks of life.

 

 

 

 

Ian and Rebecca's latest projects:


Ian & his dance partner Rebecca Andrews have teamed up with Jazz Singer virtuoso Izzy Newman & the fantastic Magician & Illusionist Freddy to form 4Tune - a brand new exclusive entertainment package. A whole un-rivaled evening of entertainment available for Hotels, Yachts, Weddings & Private Functions.

2011 sees the launch of Ian and Rebecca's latest venture Dance Mallorca!
